Thirsting for God in Trouble and Exile.

1 As the deer ^{▼▼Lit longs for}pants for the water brooks,
So my soul ^{▼▼Lit longs for
,} ^dpants for You, God.
2 My soul ^ethirsts for God, for the ^fliving God;
When shall I come and ^{▼▼Some mss see the face of God
,} ^happear before God?
3 My ⁱtears have been my food day and night,
While they ^jsay to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 I remember these things and ^kpour out my soul within me.
For I ^lused to go over with the multitude and walk them to the house of God,
With a voice of ^mjoy and thanksgiving, a multitude celebrating a festival.

5 ⁿWhy are you ^{▼▼Lit dissolved away
,} ^pin despair, my soul?
And why are you ^qrestless within me?
^rWait for God, for I will ^{▼▼Or still}again praise ^{▼▼Some ancient versions Him, the help of my face and my God}Him

7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your ^acbreakers and Your waves have passed over me.
8 The Lord will ^adsend His goodness in the daytime;
And His song will be with me ^aein the night,
A prayer to ^afthe God of my life.

9 I will say to God ^agmy rock, “Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go about ^ahmourning ^{▼▼Or while the enemy oppresses}because of the ^ajoppression of the enemy?”
10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries taunt me,
While they ^aksay to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11 ^alWhy are you ^{▼▼Or dissolved away}in despair, my soul?
And why are you restless within me?
